Dipped in gold

Trying to survive + live in a world that wasn't made for you to survive + live in is maybe probably terrifying, but namely just annoying. But (?) it's what drives me to live truthfully and in a way I'm proud of + one day will be proud of. I say this world isn't made for me, or 'us' i.e people like me, to live in because it caters to the already rich and and already 'powerful, to those who stand on the backs of the marginalized. and who uphold opression. by denying its existence or silencing the voices of the oppressed. I am not trying to get deep here on this fashion blog on the world wide web dot com but I am aiming to solidify a thought and i don't keep a journal. Anyway I'm just trying to Be and Become and I recognize what difficulties may hinder me from that (but ultimately can't stop me).

So anyway, long live hopes + dreams/futures/goals

I have been here many times before

Hi. I think I'm probably going to wear suits all summer or fall, I feel like Rihanna when I wear 'em and that's worth sweating profusely without any hope for air conditioning while I'm outside.

Saw Spider-man yesterday I won't spoil it or anything but if you don't want to know my thoughts about it stop reading here!! So it was a good film / the trailer showed entirely too much though because most of the movie there. The cast was dope and those kids are going far, but tbh I'm just ready for the 2nd movie now as I think it'll be much better with a different + new perspective on the story of Peter Parker overall. so the movie was good! but I've seen the story of Spiderman 72 million times over my lifetime and I'm kinda like ..tired?
if you've seen it let me know what you thought of it!

Baby Pink

Pink is probably the most fun color to wear for me. That and yellow, which I don't have a lot of. I've grown tired of wearing black (again) so I've been buying colorful things to brighten up my closet. This top I got in Hong Kong from a store called Monki is so dreamy...and I fell in love with that place. I'm pretty sure I was in there for 3 hours one day just trying on clothes. And the skirt, although way too small for me now, was cute enough for the moment. It's time to sell the bad boy.

This day was particularly ridiculous because I ended up straight up falling on the concrete  because women's shoes are unkind and a little bit The Worst sometimes. My sister laughed at me because she's really supportive and laughs at people's pain, but I joined her so it was okay.

Talk to you guys again soon!

Top - Monki // Skirt - Romwe // shoes - GoJane // bag - my sister's

What's old is new again

  The Powersuit

So I'm back from Hong Kong! more on that later :) I've been into power dressing and suits lately as I've been studying different eras in fashion - from ancient Sumerian times to the Renaissance and onto to the the 70's, 80's, 90's and early 00's. I get endless inspiration from them all, but I was really obsessed with the 70's and 80's in regards to women's suits.

I like how inspiration can be a bit indirect and spontaneous, or purposeful and specific. I think I was indirectly inspired in this case to wear a suit when I decided to go into my mom's closet and try something on I felt would be bold - not really intending to wear a suit. but once I had it on I couldn't help but think of all ways my mom styled this sucker in the 90's. Then I began to think of Bianca Jagger's wardrobe from the 70's, and literally every 80's blazer womankind has ever adorned. Dressing boldly is so interesting and underestimated, I think it's fun to do it in a personal way instead of relying on trends to make an outfit unique - implementing old trends + new trends, whatever, and honoring if it's your style and you feel comfortable in it is a really powerful part of fashion.  it's safe to say I plan to wear a lot more suits in the near future.

climbed a mountain and turned around

I'm in my room listening to a shuffle of Fleetwood Mac and my old homies Paramore, they're having a concert on my birthday in Atlanta and I'm psyched - my love for them is pretty equal to my love for Beyonce', which is y'know a lot. So I really really hope I'll be able to see them

I bought this long green pinafore dress like last month in a mall called Dragon Center in Sham Shui Po. that mall is huge for no reason and I get lost there sometimes but it's fine. I'm super stoked about all of my purchases in HK so far, I have a lot of ideas for shoots with the clothes I've bought but I'm gonna wait til I get back to the U.S to do most of them. I'll be working on a few photoshoots here too though with some friends in the next couple weeks so I hope I don't out of creativity

see you all soon <3

green things

Hi! I don't have wifi in my apartment currently and I have to go catch a bus back to it in a few minutes so this will be short n sweet! or probably just short. I'm sorry (mostly to myself) for my sloppy ensemble but that's to be expected when you walk up a mountain in heat and don't have mirrors nearby I think. Hope you're all well and doing good things and loving yourselves, will be back soon. Gonna go read like 80 books at once
